If I wasn’t such a procrastinator, I’d be weeks ahead of the game with these Quarter Notes. As it is, I normally send them out a few minutes after finishing final edits. That being said, it’s really hard to try to write in the middle of family vacation, and despite my best efforts, I’ll be taking this week off.
HOWEVER.
Next week, there will be two new Halloween-appropriate Quarter Notes essays as well as a special Halloween playlist for full subscribers! I’m so looking forward to sharing these with you, thanks for your patience. In the meantime, here are two listening recommendations, one from 1995 and one from this month.
This 1995 debut album from Oxford quartet Supergrass is brilliant, fun, and loud Britpop. I’m having a blast with it.
I wish I had a cool voice like The National’s Matt Berninger. That is all. Also, his debut solo record Serpentine Prison is great, and it’s worth noting he pulls off the weird, graying, hipster dad look a la Jeff Daniels in The Squid and the Whale pretty darn well.
see you next week.
